Tongtai CT Series high-speed, high-accuracy 5-axis trunnion table machining centers are engineered for complex machining of mold, die, aerospace and medical parts.
X, Y, and Z axis travels are 15.7″ x 20.1″ x 20.1″ (398 mm x 510 mm x 510 mm) respectively. A 20 hp, 15,000 rpm direct drive spindle provides both low end torque and high speed finishing ability via high/low winding switching. Both Big Plus 40 taper or HSK-63A toolholding is available. A 20,000 rpm integral spindle is optional.
Rapid traverse rates are 1,417 inch/min (36 m/min) in X and Y and 1,181inch/min (30 m/min) in Z. Linear axes have 45mm (1.77″) – dia. roller-type guideways, and tilt and rotary axes employ a zero backlash roller gear mechanism. Large diameter 40mm (1.57″) in X and Y and 45mm (1.77″) in Z double anchored and pre-tensioned ballscrews with least increment input of .0001mm/ .00001″ provide positioning accuracy of +/-0.00012″ (0.00304 mm) and repeatability of 0.0001″ (0.00254 mm).
Heavy Meehanite castings provide rigidity and strength.
The trunnion table’s patented roller gear drive acts as a gear. With zero backlash, roller gear drive delivers accuracy of +/- 15 arc seconds and repeatability of +/- 10 arc seconds utilizing the standard encoders. The addition of optional rotary scales enhances positioning and repeatability to only +/- 3 arc seconds. A rotary union for hydraulic supply for fixtures is optional. The standard 30 tool automatic tool changer performs changes in 2.0 seconds with average chip to chip time of 3.6 seconds. Optional are 40 and 60 tool capacity are optional.
Standard features includes dual rear-discharge screw-type chip conveyors, a 200 gallon coolant system and full machine enclosure. Controller choices include the Fanuc OiM-F for 4+1 applications or the Heidenhain iTNC-640 for full 5-axis applications. The Fanuc 31iM-B5 is also available for applications requiring simultaneous 5-axis contouring.
