Description

The You Ji VMT-1000+Y Vertical Mill / Turn Center is a compact, high precision, heavy duty machine. It combines a 3 axis 5 face machining center with vertical turning. The rigid vertical column and base are meehanite castings, heavily ribbed for reduced thermal distortion and vibration dampening. It is designed for turning and 5 sided or 4+1 axis milling of medium size workpieces, producing complete parts in a single set-up.

The X,Y, and Z axis rigid box guideways are completely enclosed and a forced lubrication system assures high precision. The mating surfaces are coated with Turcite-B and hand scraped for perfect fit and precision. The large 2” diameter class 3 precision ballscrews in all 3 axes are driven directly by the servo motors, eliminating belts or gears for high precision. The machine design features a fixed turning spindle and a 3 axis (XYZ) moving column for operator convenience and efficient chip removal.

The turning table construction is a heavy duty design incorporating high precision SKF NN type double roller bearings. The spindle also is protected from coolant contamination via double labyrinth seal as well as air purge. The NN type spindle bearings are used to endure high centrifugal loads and big spindle loads. The 30 HP high torque Fanuc spindle motor coupled with the 2 speed gearbox transmission system provides high torque at a low RPM. The spindle produces nearly 2,200 ft.lbs. of turning torque for heavy cutting. The table is equipped with a full C axis, allowing for 4 axis simultaneous milling, making this machine ideal for aerospace and energy industry applications.

The B axis head features a hirth coupling to lock the head position in place. Standard is a 90 degree index for horizontal / vertical milling. 5 degree and 1 degree indexing are optional. The 3500 RPM 50 taper milling spindle is powered by 20HP Fanuc spindle motor and produces over 178 ft./lbs. of torque.

The machine is standard with many performance enhancing features such as a heavy duty 24 tool arm type ATC, complete chip removal system consisting of a side discharge caterpillar type chip conveyor, spindle chiller, and Fanuc 31iT-B Plus CNC control. This versatile machine tool is designed for standalone applications or is easily integrated into a production line.
